Volunteer
Miyamba Remedial Education for Cameroon (MREC) believes that personal involvement in Ss. Mary & Elizabeth Academy will provide an enriching experience for both volunteers and the children. This is why Ss. Mary & Elizabeth Academy is built with volunteer accommodation close to the school campus and will provide a variety of volunteer opportunities. Currently, a staff/Volunteer quarters is under construction on the school campus that will lodge volunteers from abroad.
Individual Volunteer: Volunteer opportunities at MARELI Academy will vary depending on your length of stay.
Short-Term Volunteer: Volunteers will spend less than 15 days at MARELI Academy campus. Volunteers can expect to participate in student interaction during/after school hours and on weekends (practicing conversational English, playing games etc.) or work on minor construction projects (i.e. painting, landscaping, gardening).
Mid Term Volunteer: Volunteers will spend 15-60 days at MARELI Academy campus. Volunteers can expect to do more in-depth work with students and staff in educational, extracurricular, and or professional areas.
Long-Term Volunteer: Volunteers will spend more than 60 days at MARELI Academy campus. Volunteers will usually be retired teachers or business persons, recent college graduates, or anyone else who has the time to make a life-changing commitment to the school. This will provide the opportunity to be immersed in multiple areas of life at the school and build a lasting working relationship with the students, staff, parents and the community in general.
Special Assignment Volunteer: Volunteers will spend variable lengths of time but have specific skill advertised as a need. Volunteers will have specific training that requires a certain skill set that the staff at MARALI Academy may not have. Some examples; teaching special needs children, Ear Nose, and Throat Specialist, Eye Specialists, Computer information technology technician, Liberian, Dentist, Audiologist, etc.
